Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) & Aging Process
DHEA is a hormone produced by the adrenal gland. It also helps to produce other hormones like testosterone and estrogen. DHEA levels in the body peaks normally at the adulthood and slowly decreases as we get older. Some studies claim that DHEA can reverse aging process and can be used to treat many health issues like depression, alzheimer’s disease, osteoporosis, crohn’s disease. But these are still controversial. DHEA levels can also be naturally increased with physical exercise, fasting or calorie restriction. DHEA is also available as supplements and some people take it for some health conditions, but it is not recommended as still it is not clear about its functions in the body and uses.

Cortisol is body’s main stress hormone and acts like an alarm mechanism which controls mood, fear etc. It is released by the adrenal glands.
