Normally we think that we know everything about us. Of course we know most of the external things connected to us. Our family, relationships, material possessions, our habits, addictions, attitudes, characteristics, body’s physical structure and so on. Normally we believe that this information is enough. Of course this is good enough to survive in the physical world. We believe that there is nothing beyond this information too.
But there is a far bigger world inside and the majority of us are not even aware about such a thing. Our thoughts are scattered and like searching for water in a desert we are looking for happiness in the world which is very difficult to find and not permanent when a sea of ultimate happiness is sitting inside which can give permanent happiness and joy without any external stimulus.
Problem is we are too much identified with body and mind and we think we are only body and mind. We always sit in a cloud of thoughts and we don’t see the real world properly. Actually we are not body or mind. They are only accessories or instruments to play in the physical world. There is a controller or master sitting inside and he is managing everything – consciousness. He is working day and night without any rest and taking care of all the happening inside the body.
He is untouched by the body and mind and he is so powerful too. He is a part of the infinite energy who is controlling this vast universe. But we are unaware about such a force inside. That is the main problem. When the moment you start to realize this truth your life will start changing. Indian ancient books like Vedas, Upanishads and Bhagavita are mainly talking about these things and helped mystics to gain extra ordinary knowledge, power and happiness just by concentrating on this ultimate energy sitting inside.
It is not limited to mystics or yogis. Anybody can achieve their level of peacefulness and calm mind by reducing body and mind consciousness and realizing our true nature and knowing the true power which is driving us all the time. The great saint who lived in south Indian in the last century “ Ramana Maharshi” taught his disciples this method to achieve liberation. As per him you have to just enquire these three words “Who Am I” all the time. Whenever you are sitting idle just ask yourself “Who Am I”. Where did I come from ? When you keep on asking these questions to yourself slowly your mind will calm down and your consciousness or awareness will start to illuminate.
Ideally consciousness supposed to be the master. Mind and body are supposed to be its slaves. The Problem is that now slaves are in charge and consciousness is not concerned about it. Mind is like drunken money. Body also will have different problems every day like diseases, uneasiness, tiredness etc. So you cannot have perfection in the level of mind or body. Perfection is only possible in the level of consciousness. If you realize this truth you can also achieve unlimited happiness and tranquility in your life without any big material achievement, money or wealth. We believe happiness is fully connected to wealth and money. Of course you need money to survive, but for happiness you need to manage your mind too.
So whenever you sit idle, don’t allow your mind to chatter, don’t get worried too much about issues related to body, work, relations, money etc. All these are outside world things and remember you will never get full satisfaction there. Instead go inward where the real happiness resides. Search for your true self. See the real power sitting inside. Which works for you in your all 3 states -wakeful, dreamy and deep sleep states. Be grateful. Be happy about it. For working for your continuously all the time from your birth to death. Normally we people are so ungrateful to nature and these powers which are helping us to survive every second in this world. So change that beliefs and find the real things supporting you, helping you and be grateful for this beautiful life.
