First thing you should do is stop chasing corona virus news and updates. It is not a cricket or football game to sit in front of TV and watch for hours. I and my family stopped watching TV news almost 3 years back much before the corona outbreak and stopped reading newspapers too. Even now during the corona period we watch headlines once in a day for maximum 5-10 minutes that too not daily. But many times a day we check online news portal headlines and are up to date with all happenings in the world. So we are also aware about and practice all government guidelines like stay at home, social distancing, washing hands etc. But since we are not glued to news channels our minds are calm and cool. Days are passing just like any other days before the corona outbreak.
How Watching a TV news for hours can seriously affect your mind ?
To know the reason you must understand the working for our mind. Our mind has two parts – conscious and subconscious. 5 senses and mind are inputs to the brain and subconscious mind constantly recording whatever inputs we give – mainly through eyes, ears and then our thoughts. It doesn’t do any reasoning, whatever comes it just stores it. So when you read a sad story in social media or watch negative news or read negative stories in the newspaper all are getting recorded in the subconscious mind every second without even your knowledge. So unknowingly you are making a big negative foundation in your subconscious mind with these things.
So now you want to stay positive and calm
But your conscious mind knows that even if you are afraid about corona virus there is no use and a fear can only deteriorate the immune system. So you want to be positive and calm. But even if your conscious mind takes such a decision your subconscious will not allow that to happen because it is filled with so much negativity about it and remember subconscious is million times more powerful than conscious mind. All your habits, emotions and feelings, imagination, beliefs and values are controlled by your subconscious mind and it occupies 90% of your mind. It is very powerful but the problem is it doesn’t not check whether it is good or bad. It just acts based on the data stored.
So what we can do to stay positive and happy during these difficult times
If the subconscious mind is not working as per our expectation then we are the culprit too because it doesn’t take any decision on its own, instead it purely works on the inputs we give. So be very careful about the inputs we give – see only good things, hear only positive things and think only inspiring things. Then everything will be fine. Your subconscious mind will be filled with positive things and you will feel the difference in a few days. Watch relaxing TV programs like comedy programs or movies, hear relaxing music or inspirational speeches, think about something good, do things you like, develop some good hobbies etc. Soon you will be able to cope up with any difficult times. You will be always happy inside irrespective of the happenings outside. God Bless.
